Whilst at the Forestry Commission Roger developed a policy for children's play as well as a framework contract for the design and construction of play features across the estate.
The publication opposite was created to show land managers that there are many simple things that they can do to make more playful environments for children in nature.
The Pedal and Play cycle trail at Cannock Chase Forest Centre was a play concept developed by Roger in his last year with Forestry England.
This legacy project from the Commonwealth Games was designed to encourage young children up to the age of 11 to learn mountain biking skills in a safe off road environment. The layout of the cycling components was based loosely on the Norwegian ski school where the coach is based at the centre of a series of loops. The play elements were built by A Frost Design and the trail built by Clixbys.
